Skjern Papirfabrik becomes Skjern Paper

On 1 October 2019 Skjern Papirfabrik becomes Skjern Paper. The new name reflects an increasing internationalisation; today, more than 90% of its production is exported to European packaging and paper industries.

Skjern Paper was founded in 1965 and it is Denmark's only remaining paper mill, and it is still 100% Danish owned. The change of name is a natura! consequence of many years of development, where sustainability, green transition, energy efficient production methods, and recyclable quality produets have come increasingly in focus.

Skjern Paper has gone through a modernisation process. lnvestments have been made in larger production volume which turns waste paper collected in the Nordic countries into new quality produets. These produets become part of new recyclable consumer produets all over Europe, utilising in this way resources over and over again.

- We are content with our new name which we will now make known among our customers, suppliers, and other collaborators. With the name Skjern Paper we wish to signal a new era at the paper mill in which sustainability, green technology, and energy efficiency play a central role and create value for our customers, says CEO Jørgen Thomsen of Skjern Paper.

Skjern Paper is considered to be one of the world's most eco-friendly paper mills. Among others, the mill has its own wood chip boiler using biofuels for the generation of steam for the production; water consumption and process water consumption have been reduced substantially. Skjern Paper has installed Denmark's !argest heat pump of its type, supplying waste heat to more than 2,500 households in Skjern city.
